This work was included in a show titled, "Our Hesitant Dialogues,” reflecting the relationships and communications between the participating artists and their parents. The script of this video piece was written based on the written notes exchanged between Soyung Lee and her parents. Nine actors then performed as her family representing different ages of mother, father, and daughter(son).

"In Have you ever asked? Soyung Lee sets questions on art and life to her parents, each with professional background in their working fields, examining the mutual memories that the family shared. Often we experience how hard it is to have a logical conversation in a family, due to the tendency to become overly emotional reacting to each other. Thus in this family, the artist- daughter chooses to leave a note with her questions written down on the breakfast table, while the parents could take their time writing back their answers one by one. The fundamental questions about the loneliest moments in life or about one’s complexes and dreams are not difficult questions, but scarcely asked in a family. When the parents answered about their hopes and thoughts they reflected their own knowledge on history and statistics. The handwritten conversations among them are represented into video of three different families’ conversations as the final result. The children who set the questions in the video simultaneously expose their inner thoughts. In Lee’s previous work, the interest lied in observations on how the culture and history relate to individuals, conflicts, and sensibility. In this project, she attempts to look into the life of an individual through the frame of family."

"작가들은 자신들과 부모 간의 예술로써의 관계 맺음 방식을 부모들의 취미와 관심사, 전문성 등에서 착안했다. 먼저 이소영은 '드물게 찾아온 시간' 프로젝트를 통해서 각기 전문 분야에 종사했던 부모들에게 가족들이 공유하는 기억을 짚어가며 삶과 예술에 대해서 질문을 던졌다. 가족간의 대화는 감정이 앞서서 논리적인 화술이 통하지 않을 때가 많다. 이 가족들이 선택한 방법은 매일 아침 딸이 식탁 위에 질문을 올려놓으면 부모들이 시간을 갖고 찬찬히 대답을 적어내려 가는 방법이었다. 살면서 가장 외롭다고 느꼈을 순간이나 컴플렉스, 꿈에 대한 질문은 어려운 질문이 아니지만 평소라면 부모에게 질문할 생각조차 못한 것들이다. 부모들은 부모로서의 희망과 생각을 이야기할 때 사회, 역사적인 관점과 통계적인 관점을 보이기도 한다. 이들이 손글씨로 나눈 대화는 세 가족들이 나누는 대화로 짜여져 영상으로 제작되었다. 영상 속의 자식들은 부모들에게 질문만 던지는 것이 아니라 좀더 자신의 속내를 드러낸다. 그간 개인의 삶과 갈등, 감수성에 문화와 역사가 관계하는 방식에 대하여 관심을 갖고 작업을 해왔던 이소영은 이번 프로젝트에서 가족이라고 하는 프레임을 통해서 개인의 삶을 들여다보는 시도를 한다."
